Building a business comes with plenty of questions. Sometimes it helps to talk one of them through with someone who has seen other founders face similar challenges.

Whether you are testing an idea, finding your first customers, thinking about growth or preparing to raise funding, Founder Hours give you the opportunity to discuss a specific question or challenge. We are here to listen, ask questions and share our perspective.

What are Founder Hours?

Founder Hours are focused 25-minute conversations with the GO Ventures team for early-stage founders and people developing a business idea.

Use the session to discuss a specific question, challenge or decision and get practical feedback from a team that works closely with startups and evaluates early-stage businesses.

Who are they for?

Founder Hours are for founders, co-founders and people actively developing an early-stage business idea.

You can apply whether you are validating an idea, building an MVP, speaking to your first customers, preparing to raise funding or already running an early-stage company. You do not need to be actively fundraising or looking for investment from GO Ventures.

What can I discuss?

Bring the question or challenge that is most relevant to you. This could include:

  • Business model
  • Go-to-market and customer acquisition
  • Growth strategy
  • Fundraising and investment readiness
  • Pitching and approaching investors
  • Business strategy and priorities
  • A specific decision or challenge you are working through

There is no set agenda. We recommend choosing one main area to focus on so that you can make the most of the sessions.

How do the sessions work?

Sessions are 25 minutes and held online with a member of the GO Ventures team.

We will review the information in your application before the meeting, so you can spend the session focusing on the issue that matters most to you. You do not need to prepare a presentation, although you are welcome to share an existing pitch deck or other relevant information in advance.

What Founder Hours are not for?

Founder Hours are not a formal pitch meeting, accelerator programme or ongoing mentorship programme. They are designed as individual conversations to help you think through a particular question or challenge. Nor do they provide legal, tax, accounting, regulatory or other professional advice, and you remain responsible for your own business decisions.

Is this part of GO Ventures' investment process?

No. Founder Hours are separate from GO Ventures' formal investment process.

Taking part does not indicate investment interest or guarantee funding, due diligence, introductions or further meetings. If a company subsequently enters discussions with GO Ventures about potential investment, those conversations will take place separately through our normal investment process.

How do I register?

Complete the short application form and tell us a little about you, your business or idea, where you are today and what you would like to discuss.

We will review your application and, if we think Founder Hours can be useful to you, send you a private booking link to choose an available session.

Once booked, you will receive confirmation of the meeting together with the relevant joining, cancellation and rescheduling details.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. You can apply before forming a company if you are actively developing or validating a business idea and have a clear question or challenge you would like to discuss.
Founder Hours are primarily intended for founders and prospective founders based in Malta or building businesses with a connection to the Maltese startup ecosystem. We may also consider applications from founders elsewhere in Europe where we believe a session would be relevant and useful.
No. There is no charge to apply for or attend Founder Hours.
No. We deliberately keep the application short and do not require a pitch deck or business plan. If you already have a pitch deck or other relevant information about your business, you are welcome to share it in advance.
Yes. You may bring a co-founder where it would be useful, although we recommend keeping the group small so there is enough time for a focused conversation.
No. GO Ventures does not sign NDAs for Founder Hours. Please do not share sensitive or confidential information that you would only disclose under a confidentiality agreement.
Yes, although Founder Hours are intended to give as many people as possible access to the team. Previous participants may apply again if they have a new or materially different question, but repeat sessions are not guaranteed and will depend on availability.
Sessions are not recorded as standard, and written feedback or meeting notes are not normally provided. Founder Hours are designed around the live conversation. Participants should not record a session without GO Ventures' prior agreement.
